Hi,

Any idea how the mail contents are stored (i.e. as a file, or with the help of a database) in an e-mail applications like yahoo, hotmail or gmail?

Thanks..

Ratheesh

My assumption would be in POP3 or IMAP servers. But you would need to get in touch with yahoo, hotmail or gmail to find out for sure.

It could be stored either way. The open source mail server Apache James (which is written in Java) can do either database storage or file system storage.
