Hi,
I am having 4.5 years experience in IT. Working on J2EE platform in a CMMI 5 level MNC. I requested to file my H1B visa to my company, but I got the reply as I have joined recently, they can not file the visa at this moment of time. The company has asked me to wait till April to file the visa. But from external sources and the consultants approaching me, I came to know that Feb 28th was the last date to file an application. My queries are
1. Is it true? Because if it is so, then I will need to wait for one more year (till Feb 2008) to file the visa, and afterwards till Oct 2008 for stamping.
2. If I contact consultant, and get my visa filed, is this a safe way to do so? If something goes wrong, being in India I can manage, but if Ill be US, then I will be in big trouble

Hi,

AFAIK, the start date for filing H1 is April 1. So unless they have changed it for this year, Feb 28th is not the last date. Also there is no deadline, the filing goes on till the quota is over.

I would sincerely suggest to wait and talk with you company in 3rd week of March. If you had browsed through these and many other forums, body shoppers is not the way to go.

Think before you decide. All the best.

AFAIK H1-B applications begin from April 1st only. If still in doubt look at the official website or talk to a lawyer
