Hi! Well.. its not a problem in the site.. but its confusing..

if i enter a forum, i see a list of post.. i open a post then press next to go to next post in the list but actually i must use previous to do this. its fine but its opposite from the way we check email list & other site's list.

Hmmm... Actually, I've never noticed the "previous/next" buttons.

But you're right -- the order seemed opposite of what I expected, until I considered that posts are ordered with the most recent at the top. So "previous" and "next" are in terms of date order.

Indeed, I still think Yahoo mail seems backwards when I push "next" to get to an older e-mail. I haven't really paid attention to how widespread that usage is in other mail programs and fora. I never use previous/next here at JavaRanch anyway. I suppose it would be fairly easy to change the behavior, but it doesn't seem terribly important to me.

Actually, if you order Yahoo mail with the newest at the bottom/end of the list, when you hit "next", you'll get the newest one. So I think that Yahoo mail is the one that is confused.

Ya! its not an important behavior..

with me, whenever i get a break at work i generally go to meaningless drivel or some other form on javaranch .. open 1st post.. n then i click next to go to next 1.. & i get a "No further topics available in this direction " .. & i suddenly realises.. oh!!

but don't your outlook default settings are like this as well ??.. i won't prefer to order my mail by " newest at the bottom/end of the list" .. sply on yahoo/gmail or any other web based mails..

Anyways.. thanks for the responses.. i appreciate..

Mahima
