what is an application server farm? what is the defference between
application server farm and application server cluter?

I think technically both cluster and farm have the same meaning. It's a number of connected servers working more or less transparently as just one single server. Additionally there are perhaps some special functions like session migrating but that doesn't depend on the term server or cluster.

Did you hear or read something different concerning the two terms?
