We have some processing that the user needs to be able to invoke by way of, say a stored procedure, but also needs to be within the existing java web application.

Rather than maintaining two sets of code or have excessively large jar files on the database, does anyone know of the 'best' way of calling a web app (on Tomcat, OC4J, Websphere and WebLogic) from within the database-tier?

Any comments would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
