EJB relationship mapping OneToMany bidrectional

I have just started using EJB 3.0. I have a situation like this an Order can have many items and these items need to know which orders they belong to so it is a bidirectional relationship.

I have specify the relationship below. I do not understand why the relationship mapping will fail if I uses (this.items = items) in the order class.

Please advise, thank you!
