i am a B.TECH third year student.....i am an OCA DBA and placed in one of the top Indian MNC's.... as i have have keen interest in java so am planing to switch on to java(thinking of preparing for scjp 5).....as i have one more year here in the college...so i want to now am i moving well or have to take OCP DBA then to move to SUN certifications....this one year is going to be very crucial for me......do these mixture of certificates work well for getting a attractive career???
Before giving you any suggestions, one question: if you had/have interest in java why in the first place did you go for DBA thing?
Anyways, certifications dont land you somewhere good but add a degree of credibilty- thats all. You can have no certifications and working for SUN or can have and number of them with not such attractive job. So its better to sort out your preferences first and then proceed.
Having additional cerifications won't hurt you but is always a plus. So go for it, all the best.

I would advice you to take SCJP rather than going for OCP. As said by the other rancher certifications will not land you up in a job but in your initial stages it'll definetly help your CV to be shortlisted amoung all other CV's.
