Hi, in one of my projects, I have small clusters of networked computers (each computer contains an MBean running in its own JVM), and a MBeanServer per cluster. The MBeanServer manages the MBeans with in its cluster.

However, now I need to find away to interconnect the MBeanServers of each cluster in a decentralized fashion, so that any interested party can use MBeans which are in remote clusters.

Also, the connections between MBeanServers may have to go through multiple networks, firewalls, etc. So I need to use a protocol which can go through firewalls, hopefully XML over HTTP.

Is there anyway I could solve this issue?

I took a look at the JMX 2.0 Federated MBeanServers concept. This concept talks about a Master MBeanServer. Does this mean that I need to use a centralized server for this? Can I get this done in a decentralized way?
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
