Interesting. I was under the impression that it's not uncommon for children to live at home into their 20's and to have parents play an active role in their lives at such an age, so I follow the logic. (Please help larify the parent-child dynamic for me in India.)
BTW, April 26th was National Bring Your Child to Work Day in the US.
In India for 95% of families, children always live along with their families and parents do take active part if the child is switching jobs. (My sister quit a government job for a private concern; and both of my parents went on rampage doing back-ground checks on her new company and so on...) besides job...even what you study medicine/engineer/arts ect are decided by parents.
FYI... It is the parent (In India) who decides when the guy/girl should marry; they decide whom they should marry - it is arranged marriage system and even now it is strictly followed and love marriage is not welcome at-all ( And you wont know your wife till you get married )
There is a vedic adage "Matha Pitha Guru Deivam " meaning "Mother Father Teacher God" ..Parents and teachers are considered more important than God...Here in India typically Parents support a child till they have the strength to support..It is common for people to stay with their parents even after they get married and have children....In turn it is considered as one's responsibility to take care of parents during their old age..

Time has been changed. Above statement does not stand true for "all" families.
Hi, Many companies has started now Brand gaming "saying you are the reason", "you are the master" and "you are the [%^%^&]. I guess they waste lots of money on this to reduce the attritions regards Vivek Nidhi.

Your perception is right upto an extent (and others generalization is annoying to put iot mildly - I won't marry a person I do not know and my parents won't force their will on any of us ever) - but this is a way too far fetched to actually have parent's day! That's meant for kids - even any 12+ year old here would hate the idea!
