Hi there,

We have a standalone small size java application. The center of this application is 1 class comprising of a method calculatePoints which orchestrates the entire application flow (calling other dependent and helper classes).
Our client now wants this application to be exposed as an EJB. What are the steps we should take for implementing the same. I reckon we will have 1 EJB (similar to the class mentioned above and the only interface method calculatePoints). Can I achieve this using plain IDE and convert the standalone app to EJB or would we need to spend time recoding everything as per EJB specs.

Do post your thoughts.

Mohit,
This is an example of where an extra layer of abstraction. The easiest thing to do is create a single EJB and have it call your existing code.

Thanks for the response.
Now I guess I can retain my current application jar and bundle it along with the ejb ear file. This ear file will comprise the EJB(wrapper as you mentioned) which will invoke the calculatePoints method of our core class comprised in the jar file.
