why fast upload and slow downloads ?

Hi,
I recently developed a file upload and download example. But I noticed that file upload takes less time and download takes lot of time. This same anywhere over the net. Eg. driveway.
Could anyone give a reason for the difference in speeds...

Perhaps the machine that you are downloading to is crowded causing the operating system to do lots of manipulations. Perhaps the environment on the upload machine is faster.
Since you didn't give any details, it's hard to say.
