Hi All,
One of my friend works in a startup company. Well he is working there from 6 months due to some misunderstanding between the employees some of the senior members left the company and now he is handling the project and has been made the project leader. He has good leadership skills and handling the projects very well but there are two problems.

1. There are only three members in the software development team since there are many projects the deadline for the new projects will be only one month and there are many issues that comes in between of other projects which makes the present deadline not met due to which his employer is not happy about him.

2.One of the three members does not no programming well that is the technology in which they are working due to which the member takes lot of time to develop the module due to which the deadlines are not met. He is planning to leave the company because of all these pressure. Ranchers any suggestions?.

Regards
Nik

How is your friends resume. If he has no history of working under pressure, seeing it through the tough times could be an advantage.

If it is truely a no win scenario, and has proof of working under pressure. get out, cut the loss. It is not worth the stress.

Me I would go to the boss and say "I want to be a successful employee. Tell me what I need to do to be a better employee. Help me succed". Develop and implement a plan with the boss to be successful.

At the same time, I would discretely search for work, incase the situation is not salvageable. Dont post your resume on HOTJOB, Monster, ..... (places where the boss would look for new staff). Deal with reputable job search firms that know to be discrete. If the boss finds out your friend is looking for a new job. He will be very likely start looking for any reason to fire your friend.

I agree with Peter. Handling pressuere is a good skill to have. But if you are alwyas hitting a brick wall and the top management is not supportive to ease the situation then look else where. I always look for accomplishments section in ones resume. If your friend can get through this challenge then he/she can list this experience as an accomplishment in his/her CV.
