All,

Saw this thread on the Economic Times regarding the same old US visa issues

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2149385.cms

On page 3 of this link, there is a reference to a company which was supposedly not paying the minimum wages and only after the labour department investigations, did the company pay the dues

The new US visa policies it appears that H1B visa holders may get more than the local American. Not sure how this works

But this company sucks big time and there may be many more such companies who are practising this may be

If someone is getting paid minium wage in the US to program, they are being screwed. Minum wage is really set for people who work at restaurants, stores, gas stations, etc. It would be nice if the article said what type of jobs they were holding.

I really think that some of these companies that are bringing people over are really able to get away with it because of the mentality of certain individuals that do not do any research into what they are accepting and signing. They see an overseas job and jump on it thinking that $XX,XXX is a lot of money when they do a conversion.

I laugh at some of the rates people say they are going to get when the going rate for that area is normally 50-100% more. They see a bunch of zeros and forget the fact there is Cost of Living to think about, good ole US taxes, food, car, utilities, etc.

Some of these consultants make out big time that come over and can send back a lot of money. I have a feeling the people that really make out are the people that are running the companies which are sending people over! [I better stop before I get really off topic!]
