Mumbai is safe, costly, crowded, traffic jams. Good place to be in if you get settled provided you make compromise with crowds and traffic jams. If you are going to stay as a paying guest or in rented house, try to find rented house near to office.

If you stay close to your office location, you will be able to avoid travelling hastles specially during rainy season

Once work and travel are in good shape, you will enjoy Mumbai as everything here works fast and virtually everything is available closeby

Do remember that pay packages are slightly higher for Mumbai being a costly city.

The city is costly mainly in terms of house since there is overflow of crowds from all over India causing land shortage. But if you consider everything else its not that costly as it appears.

Means of travel are abundant and reliable(crowds assumed)

All the best n enjoy

How much safe Did you forget the recent blast in local trains? So much crowded, 9 hour job and more than three hour running, Unpredictable and heavy rains that block the whole city. It's just a worst place to live.
Btw i am not hurting the feelings of anybody attached with Mumbai , I am just putting my thoughts.

what a time you have chosen to join bombay

Mubmai is crowded...people travels a lot..cost of living depends upon how you live ..infrastructure is poor but under development..bus/train service is good but crowded..lots of place to see but you need to invest lots of time in traveling.

tips:
# don't suffer by train during heavy rain.
# try to find out good place to live even if it takes some time to travel.

Airali is in Navi Mumbai (new bombay) an extended city to the original mumbai.

Get a place to stay in airoli itself, the rents will be not high. Also Airoli is surrounded by places where you can hang out and have fun during the weekends (Eastern Express-Town,Mulund,Thane, Vashi).

Rains is also a time when mumbai can be experienced the best, people who have been to Marine drive, Worli Sea face, Bandra Reclamation when it is raining will vouch for the same. People who have not taken a walk on marine drive in rain will never know what mumbai is in rains so you better ignore.

Accomodation/Travel

If you get your house somewhere near airoli, or even vashi khargar belt you do not have to travel by train and will have company transport or rics so no worry on the travel part.

Entertainment.
I really do not need to spell this out do I, you are coming to mumbai.

Cost.
Airoli will be cheap by rest of mumbai standards.

You will get bored if you are relocating from heart of any other metro city to New Mumbai and you are a hardcore party animal.

Between Thane to Vashi only one Multiplex is there that is also since last 2 months.

Eastern express highway takes you to the heart of town from airoli in about a hour max. if the guy gets a bike I really do not think getting to churchgate/cst from airoli is an issue. and also I guess you are forgeting that Mulund-Bhandup is a short hop from airoli. There is no shortage of entertainment around there.

I agree airoli as a place is ahem at best good only for boarding and lodging but the places around airoli are not too far, airoli is far from the maddening crowds of central mumbai, its cheap as compared to other places and also to get to town or say to poona for a short trip airoli and places like vashi are the best with the expressway and the eastern express highway at short distances.

Blast happen everwhere not just in Mumbai. They happen in Hyd. Even Bangalore had terrorist attack. Delhi and Mumbai are ofcourse always on hit list of terriorist. When I said safe, I did not mean it with reference to terriorist attacks. I meant it with reference to crime rate as compared to other cities.
Crowd : I already mentioned it is crowded and someone has problem with crowds, should not try this city.
Unpredictable heavy rains : We enjoy it !!!
Worst place to live : We are facing major problem, how to stop so many people coming in mumbai.

Best part is for the rainy season normally you don't get ticked off for coming in late or leaving early especially after 26'th july 2005 its normal for people to take off for home at 4 with a hint of heavy rains.

I certainly am enjoying the rains not making it to office before 11 in the morning ... more power to rains...

Fine, every city has the problem of terrorist attacks, but One more problem with Mumbai is the hold of people who feel himself more than law or police, You can not move safely on Valantine day with your girlfriend, or even your wife sometime

What you see on TV is not situation everywhere. Media always try to find worst pics so that people should watch their news channel.

Also, in Raining seasons, Roads of Mumbai is just hell compare to Delhi or any other Metro.

I already said mumbai is crowded.

Reason is it is business capital.
It absorbs everyone.
People are good compared to other parts of India.
Person who gets setteled here, likes the city doesn't matter it has few problems of crowd and travelling time, but city teaches you alot.
Ofcourse everyone have their own choices.
But I have seen people who are from other parts of India, came to mumbai , after few years, they do not want to leave this city. It is happening city.
Ofcourse first few days are difficult to get setteled here.
I again say, everyone has their own choices.

And about safety, when parliment was attacked in Delhi, what can you say about common man. When Jessica Lal was killed infront of so many people , what can you say about safety. I will say Mumbai is still one of the most city in India

Airoli is a good/relatively cheap place to stay.. I have stayed there 3 years ago. Airoli is a very secluded and calm place. Dont worry about the Mumbai crowds etc. If you have company bus then you need not travel by train/BEST buses..

1 BHK should cost around Rs 3000-5000 per month.. If you are a bachelor you can cut cost by sharing with other guys..

Also as for entertainment you can go to either Vashi or Mulund. Both places have good malls etc. I hope this will clear apprehensions..

I removed the address of the company because that's equivalent to giving the name. Please do not try to give any other information that can reveal the company name, or the thread will be closed.

Mark,

With due respects, I think the original poster is just looking for information regarding the place and not the company. Even the address he has posted is not for a company but a sector in a town. The tone of the thread is also more to do with the place rather than feedback regarding the place to work in.

He originally had put in the company name which was removed which is as per the policies of this forum.

The original post now does not have any meaning to it after the edit, if you look at it the way it is now...

Hi All,

Which address...?

Anyways this thread is done as I guess shashi got the information he was looking for and it was not company specific.

Thank you for clarifying. Not being familiar with the local geography, I thought it was the address of the company.
