Hi Ranchers,
I really need all your wise advice again...
I am working in IBM and my current project which is showcase project using SOA architecture ..
like my project uses
IBM Websphere App developer/Server
IBM MQSeries
IBM Adaptors
IBM Portal Server 5
IBM Message Broker
IBM Process Server

and other IBM small tools for managing proect

I am having around 2.5 yrs of experience and have worked on core java, jsp/servlets, struts, jsf, ejb 3.0, ejb 2.0, webservices and MQseries till now..

its around 5 months that i have joined this project and ibm and i worked mostly on corejava, ejb2.0 stateless beans and webservices in this project yet..

but I really wanted to take advantage of the products and technology used in project for my career devlopment..

so my question are
1. Now what can I choose for my career and for future development
should i choose IBM portal Server and develop portlets (they are pure stuts portlets) or should I ask my Manager to give me some exposure to Process server (as some of my friends told me that future of process and IBM process server is v.bright)

I am really confused ...as i have not v.v.strong much command on sturts either coz worked on only one struts project earlier but have confidence that I will be able to do that coz of good programming logic mind set on core java..

my aim to become architect... and in my project all EAI technologies are being used with normal j2ee

so please guys help me how to take maximum exposure of my project

Thanks in advance...

**Dear Moderator I have just name IBM, as my co. name not discussing about my company just about my project so please don't delete or edit this thread...

Regards

There is nothing wrong with this posting. You are not discussing a company, you are merely stating a fact, that you work for a named company.

Hey Amit,

I'm not sure about the ones listed below from your post

IBM MQSeries
IBM Adaptors
IBM Portal Server 5
IBM Message Broker
IBM Process Server

The reason is not every company uses the above tools or technologies. So if you are to use and work on the above tools, then you might be confined to using it only at your workplace. I mean the knowledge that you gain will be limited to the place where you work right now. But on the other hand if you use tools like Hibernate, JSF, AJAX, Struts, Spring, I'm sure that everyone in the J2EE globe knows them well.

But to the contrary learning everything and knowing more is always good for anyone's career. So from a wide perspective, if you get a chance to work on popular frameworks grab the opportunity and at the same time you can explore more about the tools that you have mentioned.
