Cleared SCJP and looking for a job

Hi Friends,

I have cleared SCJP with 75% and i am an 2006 pass out with bachelors degree in Electronics and comm.And i am looking for a job. Any opportunities for me?

I have not seen that certifications have helped anyone in India for getting ones his/her first job.Do not know how it happens outside.

As fresher one doesnot have much choice of job.What happens if you get a good job as testing professional or C developer ; will you not join that ?

I disagree with Rahul.Certifications always help you.You will have an extra weightage.You will get interview calls but performance in the interview depends on you.So keep hunting for the job.All the best

Good to see that you help not to reduce the motivation factor of the OP.

But whatever Rahul said is perfectly fine as per my experiences and inferences. Being a fresher (mean in the initial stage of your career), no way you can get a control on what you would be working on. That holds good for the platform, domain, technology etc.,

Perhaps, there may be a very little chance for an individual to get as per their preference. But that is very little, i repeat!

You can definitely mention the SCJP score in your CV so that it will have an impact and may help the employers to put you into Java based projects.

I agree with you Raghavan but i just mentioned that its a extra weightage to get interview calls and it all depends on his performance.Great to see all of you motivating the youngster.All the best again.

I agree with "Ashutosh Chopra". Also would like to add that it is only more useful for beginners who have less or no hands on experience. Once you have more experience, then your CV should concentrate more on your achievements/accomplishments and pointing out your strengths in key areas as discussed in free Java/J2EE CV guide at http://www.lulu.com/java-success. You need to know how to market yourself via effective CV and no one is going to give you a job just only based on Java certification. For a beginner Java developer the certification is one of the accomplishments but not the only one enough to secure a job.
