I have a packaging issue with a java (client-side) class we're getting ready to semi-internationalize. We need to be able to test, reliably, on Windows, operation in Japanese; and the availability of a full testing environment is questionable.
I've noticed that I can't pass in "-Dlang=ja_JP" to any JDK I can run from JBuilder; but the long-form "-Duser.language=ja -Duser.country=JP" works, but only on JDK 1.4.1. I haven't yet tested the full command-line option (SET LANG=ja_jp; then run) for a variety of reasons involving a pain-in-the-butt setup I'm not ready to write yet.
We need to ship this with JDK 1.3.1. Any hints on the most reliable way to get the Windows JRE to just shut up and do what I tell it to do - which is pretend that it's living in Japan?
