I am about to launch a web site. I have been using Sun's development version J2sdkee1.3.1 to run and test my application. But I do not think that I can use this for production purposes. I am looking for an entry level (upgradable) webserver that is capable of deploying EJBs at a reasonable price. I like WebSphere but it seems to be a bit expensive for me at this time. Any suggestions?

An excellent one is Orion, http://www.orionserver.com
development and educational licenses are free, as is deployment in a non-commercial environment.
Commercial deployment licenses last time I checked were $1500 per machine irrespective of the number of CPUs.
Performance and stability are excellent.

IMHO, JBoss is decent enough to make it absurd to pay for any other (at least if you are not deploying an extremely complex / high-demand web site). At least, it did so 1 1/2 years ago (the last time I used it). The users base is big and qualified enough to rival any other commercial option's tech. support department.
I've been using WL for the last 2 years and, to be frank, the only thing I'd miss if going back to JBoss would be the fancy web-based GUI for configuring and administrating it.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
