Java as the COMM API for letting Java programs read and write to serial and parallel ports without JNI - if your hardware is one of the supported types.
A google search for "java comm api" found lots of references.

You are on your own there - I have always found the COMM API to be sufficient for talking to COM ports.

Is there a reason you are not using the Java Print Service API?

Howdy Mr. (or maybe Ms.) Cluck is it? Welcome to JavaRanch the absolute best site in the whole www for Java information. We don't have many rules around here but we do have one. Your display name should be a real first and last name according to the JavaRanch Naming Policy. You can edit your profile here.
Thank you for your cooperation. And BTW, how do you feel about those pesky cows that are always tryin' to get us to eat more chicken?
