I'm trying to install a web app that relies on java.lang.CharSequence.
The problem is that the server I'm installing to has Java 1.3 and I can't upgrade to 1.4.x right now for various reasons.
What chance would I have of extracting this Class out of 1.4 and using it with Java 1.3? Where would I put this class so that it is recognized?
Thanks,
Drew

According to the JavaDocs, the CharSequence interface is implemented by CharBuffer, String and StringBuffer. Given that these classes are so deeply embedded in everything, I can't imagine how you can get around the problem on the server side.
Seems to me your choices are:
1. Use Java 1.3 to compile your web app.
2. Implement your custom app as some sort of service that the web server can easily connect to so that an incoming request to a 1.3 compatible servlet on the web server can make a connection to the functions of your web app to create a response.
