Does interoperability only mean web services?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
There are cases when interoperability between Java and .NET is a must and this must be very clearly defined, otherwise work opportunities can be lost easily.
Is web services the only way that the Java and .NET can operate? Does the book talk about other ways that interoperability can be achieved with typical scenario implementation being discussed?
Thanks

The book discusses in chapter 8 how interoperabiliity can be achieved by generating proxies. Intrynsic Software in Vancouver, JNBridge LLC, and JNet Direct offer excellent interop solutions. All third party solutions should be tried.
I am both an experienced J2EE developer and .NET programmer. I like to take advantage of solutions both major platforms offer. Dwight Peltzer
