hi, i'm having a wee problem wiith my java
when compiling a program i get this

Hi.
That's probably not your fault. This exception is thrown by Windows when an application (the JVM in your case) is trying to divide a float/double number by zero.
However, you probably don't try to do it at all. I think it's a bit of a bug with the 1.4.2 - did you try running it on a different jvm?

I just formated my computer and reinstalled java and when i compiled i got that message. any advice would be appreciated

Hmm, possibly a problem with your SDK installation. Try uninstalling all SDKs and installing the latest SDK. Also, make sure that your classpath is correct.
If you still get the problem, tell us what your path and classpath say.
