Hi All,
I know one application can running on several JVMs. For example, I installed JVM on my local PC C:\j2sdk1.4.2, but this is only one JVM. How do I install other JVMs in my local PC? And how I can run one application in severl JVMs?

Thanks a lot!

Hai,
You just download the jvms from sun's site and double click to install. You can set the default one in the control panel if you are using windows.

To pick which jvm you want the application to use in a given run, just navigate to the directory for that jvm.

Jeanna,
Thanks for your prompt answer.
But I still don't understand what do you mean "You can set the default one in the control panel if you are using windows". Yes, I am using windows XP. And in my C drive I already have one JVM called c:\j2sdk1.4.

Could you give me a little more elaboration?

Thanks.

Are you talking about running several instances of (a single version of) the JVM at the same time or having several versions (ie 1.3, 1.4, 1.5) of the Java runtime (JVM plus libraries) installed on one computer??

Hi all,
We would like to switch between different versions of Java SDK, to be specific we have got Java 1.5 installed on our m/c's but we would like to switch to Java 1.4 or 1.3. We tried playing around with path and JAVA_HOME but that doesnt work for Java 1.5. Java 1.5 has become default JRE irrespective of JDK pointed by path variable.
Any work-around/comments?

thanks in advance

You could set the JAVA_HOME to C:\JAVA, and rename

C:\Java to C:\JDK1.5
and
C:\J2SDK1.4 to Java

and vice versa.

On Linux it's much easier, because you may use symbolic links for this task.

Another idea is the use of batch-Files:
java13.bat:
