What is the difference between
java
sdk and jdk ? Or are they synonymous?

What is now called the J2SDK (also known as J2SE) sprouted from what up until version 1.2.0 was called the JDK.
There are of course many more SDKs than just the J2SDK, for example the J2SDKEE (
J2EE
).

the names are used interchangably by most people.
