How to create symbolic link with Java

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hello,

Have an issue I've been banging my head with...

When we deploy our web application (as a .ear file), we have to call the System Admin. and walk him through how to create a symbolic link in the deployment folder.

Since, under Sun ONE v7, Update 1, when you deploy an application (.ear or .war), it creates a new folder and deploys the application. This means that the symbolic link created in the old deployment folder, no longer exists in the new one; thus the long phone call mentioned above.

So my question is: Is there a way that I can create the symbolic link, either through the deployment process, or, within a Java object, servlet, or other method?

We're running Solaris OS v5.9 (OS9)

You'd have to use Runtime.exec() to run the ln program with the appropriate arguments.
