i am tyring to implement a program that shows how to use fuzzy logic to decide on a degree of membership a document has to a search query, to do this i need to be able to show a graph of the results of a formula. i want y axis to be degree of membership and x axis to be no. of string occurrences in the document(i have a method to retrieve this.)the maximum value degree of membership can take is 1. i.e.
if no. of occ <1 then membership = 0,
if 1<no. of occ < 3 then membership = ((no. of occ) - 1)/2
if no. of occ>3 then membership is 1

i want to show the results in a line graph.

can anyone please help

The easiest way to do graphs and charts is probably to use an existing package. One such package is JFreeChart.

If you were feeling masochistic, you could probably draw some simple charts using the Java 2D API directly, but I wouldn't bother unless you absolutely can't use a 3rd party package.
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
