My mistake....

Actually "Manual" means "Manual Testing"....

I have little knowledge of Load Runner but never used in work as it was never required according to my Projects' Requirements...

One of my friend who has one year of experience in Manual testing(Mainframes) got 4 lakhs offer from a big MNC(12 billion $) comapny in hyderabad and his current CTC is 2.6L...

If a candidate has 2 years of experience on Load runner can he ask for the same CTC as a candidate having 2 years of experience on JAVA asssuming all other conditions like both candidates education and technical skills are at same level...

Well, generally speaking, development positions are almost always better paid than QA positions in the same organization. In fact, there could be stark differences.

So a good Java Programmer with 2 years of experience and good analytical and problem solving skills can command 50-100% more salary than a guy similarly experienced in QA. Ofcourse the tacit assumption here is that the organization is the same for both the positions.

Thanks for your reply saxena..

As you said there will be difference in QA and development..I have seen many people with 5-6 years of experience shift from Development to Testing..Why do they do like so?

Thanks & Regards,

In my view all depnds on

-- What you learnt in the 2 years. Is that real two year experience or 1 year repeated 2 times or 6 months repeated 4 times.

-- Who your employer is? multi-national, investment bank, insurance etc.

-- Visibility of the project you work in. i.e budget, mission criticality 24x7, high profile etc?

-- What your role is and what your responsibilities are? tech lead, architect etc

-- Type of employment. e.g contract, permanent etc.

So rather than contemplating and switching based on what a 2 year or 3 year experience person will be earning I would be staying in the field where I am good at, passionate and consequently market my skills effectively earn the best the market can offer.

14 LPA for 2 years , In 1000 people how many get this kind of package? Hardly 2 or 3 or even less.
