Hi All, I am developing a RMI program. Everything works fine when the connection is available. However, when the server is down, it takes the RMI client 3 minutes to throw the connection time exception, which causes major problem for our project. The stack trace of the exception is as follows:

The cause of the problem was, I put a server name that can not be resolved in the Naming.lookup method. If I put an IP address and shutdown the RMI server, the RMI client will return immediately with a connection time exception. Is there a way to change the time out value the client will wait to a smaller value to, say, 10 seconds? Thanks

There are some system properties, I think you'll find a solution here...
