Can somebody please tell me how to send a word/excel/pdf file to printer without opening it ?

The scenario is the user submits a file . I want to send a file to the printer at my end as soon as it is saved to the database . The files could be as big as 30 MB .

Thanks,

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

First, a bit of business: you may not have read our naming policy on the way in. It requires that you use a full, real (sounding) first and last name for your display name. Initials and random letter dribbling isn't enough. Although this is a friendly place, you'll find that most folks aren't interested in answering your questions until you choose to follow the rules.
You can change your display name here. Thanks for your immediate attention.

Ragini, word/excel/pdf are the types of file formats that required specific application to process file it before you print it.

There are many libraries in Java that can read word/excel/pdf files.

Just go thro them and see if you can print those types of file directly.

Let me know if you need more clarity.

One more thing Ragini.

If you found any library that support direct printing of such types of file, you will still not be able to use it in web application. As those library can only fire print command on server – as they are server side language. So if client fire a print command, printing will happened on the printer attached to the server (I did this once ).
