how to develop a voice chat application

here i am developing a chat application .

but i dont have any idea on how to interact with sound(voice) in java .
Is there any API for interacting with sound?
it can also be a third party API
please if any one knows abt this please send me the link

can i get already developed chat applications which has voice chat implemented in it?



please it's very much important for me as part of my asssignment

can i use java.sound.midi API for sending and recieving voice msgs???

you should use java multimedia API , i do not remember its correct name .
also you can look at
https://communications.dev.java.net/
there are some voice chat application there which you can use them as a base for your job.
