I have an action from a modal dialog box which reloads the same dialog box while the parent window and the dialog are still open. This action is different from the ok and cancel actions in the dialog box.How can i do it?

There ar two text areas in my dialog box. There is an action in the first text area like addition which shud display the sum in the below text area.So in order to display the sum i want to reload the dialog box with changed values(the contents of the second box to sum instead of null values)These changed values neeed to be submitted to the parent window on click of ok or cancel.
