I have a basic doubt that in every job portal or everywhere we find JAVA as the first job opening and then only other jobs does it mean that JAVA has high boom?

I was given testing so i asked my manger about put me in development then he said even testing has boom..
Here is my question that i wanted to ask him
In my project there are 50 JAVA developers but only 10 testers it clearly gives an idea that JAVA has more openings than Testing..

I think my Project Manager(Other wise he will not become manager) knows about this but why do they say like this, i asked two to three PMs in my company and they all say the same thing ..

Every body says that if there is development then there will be testing..
But the proportion will be less...

Why do QA people are paid less in comparison to Development..When people knows that Development guys are paid more than Testing why the people move from development to testing..

Thanks & Regards,

It's part of the inequities of life. Like why people can be paid millions of dollars for producing things we really don't need, but people who keep us from being up to our eyebrows in garbage (and less pleasant things) are paid relatively little.

In this particular case, it's in part because without developers producing code, there'd be nothing for testers to test. It's also in part because the job of software development is perceived as requiring more skill and creativity.

Perceptions can be deceiving - while running tests doesn't require a whole lot of skill, designing and setting up a set of good tests is another story.

As for myself, I have a lot of respect for those who can patiently and faithfully repeat the same sequences over and over and over again and check them off one by one. Patience isn't one of my virtues.

The company can survive without QA, but not without Developers

Pay is all about supply and demand. Some testers get paid well when they have a specialized knowledge/skills in a testing tool like say Load Runner or domain knowledge like Equity products etc where there could be less supply and more demand.

But in general developer get paid more. See where your passion is what you enjoy doing and pesuie your career based on your own convictions not based on advise from others.

Personally its all passion in what we are going do.
Set your goals (which you love not based on the market booming) and act on it. Once you feel you are a talented person in the company (with the past achievements / may be OR may not be recognized) then check where you are valued for that or not (not in terms of money only, it may be respect or responsible positions and lot more). For Me I want to valuated first with respect and obviously the salary BUT it is always second...

Keep your priorities and get set go...

Guys if you have any suggestion in my view please share with me
