Dear Ranchers,

I have a very hard challenge : To create debugger in Java which is able to debug any kind of Sybase stored procedure.

Such debugger must offer at least the common basic operations such as : Break points, Run to cursor, Evaluate Expression and so on...

To be honest, I really don't know from where to start. I wonder if I can take look at netBeans source code to check how the built-in debugger was implemented and perhaps build my application on top of netBeans platform. However, once I'm expected to see tons of code I really don't know whether this is the best plan of attack.

I would really like to hear your opinions and tips from where should I start.

Thanks a lot,
Edisandro Bessa.

I would first start by learning about Sybase and how exactly it runs those stored procedures. Until you understand that, all the rest is moot. You may find out there's no way to do it at all, or you may find out there's already something built-in to help you.

Tongue wrestling. It's not what you think. And here, take this tiny ad. You'll need it.
