Hi Ajay,

I thought that post would get deleted. If you notice then you will find that my post in the same thread has also been deleted.

In my post I said that you comment is valgure , so I guess who so ever has deleted your post has also deleted mine.It makes sense.

If you go through this link , then you will find the following statement ,

There is still only one rule that applies to MD: "Be nice!"
and I do not see your post conforms to it.
I do not think that your comment was nice to Perrty Arora.

Ajay: I didn't delete it, but yes, it was deleted because some people thought it was vulgar. Posts in MD may be deleted at any time, particularly if some people find them controversial or offensive. We used to try to tolerate a much wider variety of posts, but got tired of constantly having to referee arguments and put out fires. Now we just delete things if they start to annoy people.

I did delete your subsequent post in MD asking who deleted your earlier post, because you also asked that here, and there's no reason to repeat the converstion in two places. This is a more appropriate forum, so I deleted the other one.

Rahul: I believe the word you're looking for is vulgar.

Jim,
I don't mind the deletion of the second post, I actually asked the person who deleted my post to post here in Javaranch. Thats Okay.
Now can I ask you what you feel of my statement as quoted in my first post in these topic.
If you dont want to answer that its fine, as it could get you at crossroads.
But i would like the person who did delete it to let me know why.
If it was purely based on what Rahul said or if He/She felt the same.

I take it this way Ajay.

Its purely on the moderators as in cricket umpire's judgment is not questionable , its also something like it here.

After all its meaningless , so why bother.

Vulgar? Be Nice?
the comment before mine at MD was "harsh!" now is that nice?
everything everyone says could possibly be offensive to someone some where.
The mention of Buddhism could be offensive to Buddhists. the mention of loving pork could be offensive to Muslims.
the questioning of the existence of witches could be offensive to Witches.

Ajay -

Well the problem is, we don't really want to start having detailed explanations and discussions every time something gets deleted, because then the next time, everyone else thinks they're entitled to a detailed explanation too, and we've found in the past that that just makes more work for us in the long run. Meaningless Drivel is supposed to be fun; it can have some interesting discussions, but we don't want it to be extra work to maintain it; that's not the primary reason why we're here. If people start getting offended or arguing, we're just more likely to delete topics that seem likely to lead to offense or arguing, and less likely to take time explaining ourselves.

I will say that, independent of Rahul's comment that the post was vulgar, I personally thought it was at least in questionable taste. And when you edited your post to add "PG-13", smilies and  , and said "it's fixed!", that seemed to make things more objectionable, not better. I probably would have deleted it at that point, but someone else did first. Look, some people find pathroom humor offensive, and the fact that you made it specifically bathroom humor about women made it more likely to offend.

Are there other potentially offensive things in that thread or other threads that don't get deleted? I don't know - maybe. Deciding what to delete is a subjective call, and not everyone is going to agree. If people start complaining about more things, we'll probably delete more things. Threads will become more boring. Too bad, but these things happen.

I appreciate what you said.
It saddens me to see that my sense of humor and sarcasm has caused grief in the javaranch MD community.
In the land of the Blind the one-eyed sheriff should shoot based on what he sees not on what he hears.
I also learned something from this event. I got my answer to the question: why is there any form of discrimination in the world?
Because superiority exists.

If look around for something to be offended by, you'll always find something.

Alternately, it is a fact of moderated forums that posts will be deleted. You can wander around under the radar and say nothing interesting, you can kick and scream and annoy people, or you can be a regular person and occasionally get your posts deleted. Almost everyone has, lift your head up and move on.
