Just my 2 cents.

Right now, there already is a 'computer' running on it.

Looking at another point of view, how do you convert a Assembly-language-made program to Java? It would be the same process for the microwave.

There would be an additional JVM.

There are in fact plenty of small chips that contain an entire Java JVM already, frequently with an astonishing amount of extra functions.

For example this Dallas Semiconductor microcontroller.

Years ago that company made a sealed can about the size of a large mercury battery that had an entire JVM - this debuted at a Java One confernces as a Java Ring - I still have one around here somewhere.
