clustered environment question

Supposed I want to run a Java TimerTask scheduled job. This timer task is included in a EAR file that is deployed to a clustered environment. So, in each of the cluster node there is a EAR. Then how can I prevent the scheduled timer from running for multiple times ? e.g. this may produce results that I don't intend to get.
