Hi Folks,
So what do you Guys think of the Java2Demo?
Why is the response time so slow, like when you click on something, it kind of thinks about it
Is that quite acceptable for UI Screens done with Java?

I hadn't looked at it before. It's pretty cool, I think. I don't have much problem with the response time when I run on my 128 MB 500 MHz pentium III using JDK 1.3 beta. It does get more noticeable if I switch over to my 64 MB 266 MHz AMD, also using JDK 1.3 beta. (The latter isn't really mine, but I have access to it.) I suspect it gets much worse on smaller/slower machines - Java does tend to want to grab a lot of memory. And this application in particular has a lot going on with all the different graphics available on each tab.
I'd say that for most UI screens, you should be able to get a significantly better response time, as most screens do not need to have so much going on at once (visually I mean). If you need to do fast graphics on a small machine though, Java probably isn't the best platform to use.
