Hi All,
How can I call a method in JApplet from JavaScript?
I have tried with < applet>,< object>, and < embed> tags using applet
id,name attributes. But the communication is possible only in IE, and
Netscape browser is giving javascript error.
I have thought of 2 workarounds.
Workaround1:
By placing swingall.jar in web server itself. But it will take a long
time to download swingall.jar whenever the applet is downloaded.
Workaround2:
Placed one ordinary dummy applet which contains a method say method1()
which will call originalMethod() from JApplet. I am trying to call
method1() of ordinary applet from javascript, which in turn will call
originalMethod() of JApplet. But this is also not working. The problem
is ordinary applet is running in browser's VM, whereas JApplet is
running in Plug-in VM.
Javascript has to communicate with JApplet via the Plug-in.
Can any one suggest a workaround for this problem?
TIA,
Venkat.

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
