Dear Shubac,
GridBag Layout is the most extensive layout avialable in Java for positioning of controls over the canvas area.
Weight x and Weight y are the methods of the GridBagConstraints class and they specify the % panel size. Many people have a misconception that they specify the size of the control; but this is not true. When you place controls over the applet area and arrange them according to the default size of the applet; any change in the size of your applet would distort the positioning of your controls as they were set as per a custom size only ! Using weight x and weight y would solve this problem.
Animation
You can refer to the website 'WWW.java.sun.com amd search for JMF(Java Media Framework 2.0) which is a new technology which could make animation a fun.
