Hi,
I have a program (For internet application)that uses swing components since the browser doesnt support swing i decided to use swing.jar.The initial size was 1.8MB i removed the unneccessary class files and the size came down to 1.61.By zipping it or compressing it the size is still 1.45Mb due to this the download time is high. There is no way that i can garauntee that the client has JVM so i have to depend on the JVM of the browser.Any sort of help in reducing the size of the jar file is welcomed.
Thank you in advance
Kalyan

I'm not sure about checking for the swing stuff, but I can suggest that you go to preemptive.com and see if their dash-O stuff will help you. I know it always manages to squeeze space out of my applets.
Another thing is that you can make your jar files smaller for your IE users by using the microsoft CAB file format instead. As much as I hate to admit it, the CAB format is superior and can cut your jar file to almost half!
