Opportunities beyond US/Canada & UK

What are the opportunities available abroad (I am in India now) beyond US/Canada and UK for a person with 8+ years experience? I am not keen on UAE either...how are opportunities in Germany, Australia or Netherlands etc? Any other destinations? What is the procedure if I want to try these places?

I am also interested to know. How to apply for singapore jobs. Singapore is close to India and flights are cheaper.

Perhaps you can come to Singapore on Social Visit Pass and search for jobs. The possibility of a Java job for 3/4 years experienced person is very high. You could save few bucks if you are a bachelor.

For Australia, as far as I know they prefer people with specialized skill set. In my case I am still getting calls from Austrlian companies because I worked on Vignette skill set for 2 years. I guess Vignette people are rare to get so they are trying to grab me.

Getting a job directly from India to Australia is very very difficult unless you have rare skill set they are particularly looking for.

So, Singapore is the best choice. Moreover, getting Australian job from Singapore is far easy. However, in Singapore, work hours are more in such a way that the work you will learn in 3 years in India you will learn in 6 months in Singapore

You should be careful in negotiation with Singapore consultants. They are smart and they will try to grab every dollar from you. Don't fall into their sweet conversation while negotiating salary.

I agree with Surya, He is right specially the learning is very fast in Singapore, You will learn the things very fast and in short amount of time.
the only problem you will face in Singapore is that, Singapore is very small country even smaller than Delhi, so you will start feeling bore if you don't have enough friends..But it is very clean, beautiful and very well managed.

I have a doubt. Is it necessary to learn any specific language for getting to singapore, australia or germany? especially for germany. I am a java developer with 1.5 years of experiance but still i don't want to waste my time here with less salary. The main problem is that i also dont have an enough money to get onto singapore and search for jobs. As a part of preparation i am searching for the german language classes.

Please tell me with these circumstances what are the things do you guys think that i should do.

I think you should complete atleast 3 years of experience in order to try for any overseas job. I believe after working for few years in the current job and industry then only you will get confidence in your technology.

In Singapore most of the time you need to work with customers. You should have very good communication as well as technical knowledge. Customers are end user and they do not have any technical knowledge. You should be able to explain technical things to them in a non-technical way!

I should have used the word "maturity" for which you should complete 3 years of work experience. Try to get as many certifications as you can (atleast 2). Learning German is a good choice if you are willing to migrate to Germany at later stage.

In Singapore, IT companies prefer candidates with atleast 3 years of work experience. Moreover, they expect you to pick up very fast and do the work very fast. I started working from my first day in Singapore. Believe me, just after two weeks they asked me to work on a production environment. It takes couple of months to understand the system.

Really these things are helping me a lot in deciding the future professional career plans. Talking about certifications, I already have started and planning 2 java and one oracle certification within 3 months. I know the importance of it now. And i am planning to learn german lang. also within 1 year as i will attend the classes only on sundays.

How about opportunities in Germany..Any idea about that...I had learnt Deutche for 6 months from Goethe Institute,chennai some years back...I wanted to continue that but I don't find time now..

There are good opportunities in Japan..But not many people are aware of that..You can save more money in Japan than in US..But you need to know Japanese...Clearing JLPT-2 would help a lot..

i think learning Japaneses or German or any other language depend upon the country you are going to, for example in Singapore even if you don't know any of these language, you will still be able to get a job. When it comes to Asian countries, local language does matter, I think English is widely used in countries like India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong and Philippines so to work in these countries you do not need to know their local language.but if you want to go any other countries like china, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam etc, you must know their local language, Otherwise it will be hell of problem.

I think in Germany, Most of people can speak English. So It hardly matters to know German, but knowledge never get waste.

Germany has IT openings.But adjusting to its feudal conservative work culture takes time if you are from countries like India.Language is not a big barrier in big cities.Adjusting with food is not a problem if you are not vegetarian.For a short span upto a 6 months to year its nice place to stay.
