regarding the status bar  RSS feed

I added the status bar in my applet. It is an multi threaded application where it will take care of both Focus Listeners and Action Listener and Showing Date and time. By default it will add at the left hand side of the status bar.But when the message displays on the status bar, i made the date and time thread to sleep for 10 seconds.Now i want to display the date and time at the extreme right and the message too on the left hand side. Can i use \t(Tab).
