I have a JPanel over the whole JFrame. The Menu is always behind the JFrame. I have a timer that repaints the JPanel. Should I stop the timer ? Can I add a actioncommand to the Menu(not MenuItem) that stops the Timer???

Is it a Menu or a JMenu? Mixing AWT and Swing components will result in some things being hidden in the background, especially where menus are concerned.

It is a JMenu, I'm sure. I have a timer that calls the paint method. I want to stop the timer, so the menu can be paint. How can I get an ActionEvent from the Menu(Bar) ???

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
