Please explain what you mean by "j2ee development for the past 3 years".

What did you specifically do?

It depends on what kind of systems you use, build scripts etc. for the deployment. I know a few senior programmers who had similar or more years of experience and moved to deployment positions. I am guessing here(Websphere), but I think you might be doing the deployment on a mainframe system using JCL, ant scripts and so.

It's an opportunity to learn some new systems, and I wouldn't worry about it too much. I always take it that way.

If it's a temporary position, its alright. Not so sure, if one should take it as a future career path.

Hi All,

Here deployment is in Websphere only.I have to deploy only the j2ee applications.I just want to know whether it would be good if i move into the deployment side because i was with j2ee development for the past three years.
Its not temporary assignment.I have to be in deployment for atleast two years.I don not know how the future would be. Please provide your valuable suggestions.

Thanks,
Prabu
