Should i look for another job in this recession? Any advice/suggestions?
I have just been reading about PMP certification....the criteria requires at least 4 years of project management which i don't have.
I have also considered the option of MBA but I would prefer to do it part-time so as to fund my study(I am based in UK at the moment). But part- time MBAs take about 2 years for completion. [ July 28, 2008: Message edited by: Suzi Cooper ]
As per the Wikipedia site, you can go for Certified Associate in Project Management if you don't qualify for PMP, however I've seen my friends going for and clearing this certificate without fulfilling this criteria, all that they did was attend a week long training (On company expenses )and appear for the exam.
For Business Analyst positions, you can check out the Executive MBA or other similar options in UK or can go for a world renowned degree like CFA (quite tough but very rewarding).
You can go for a 'Analyst cum Developer' type of role in finance hubs of the world like London / NY / Hong Kong / Singapore / Tokyo etc. after completing CFA (most common role in these places) where CFA is the most sought after qualification for this role.
With your prior technical background, you would be an ideal fit for this role.
However CFA is tough and takes a lot of time to complete.
try to break into some level of leadership role like a team lead etc. Also make sure that you write a resume that promotes you as a well ronded professional with both technical and soft skills as opposed to just a techie.
