Dear all,
I am using netbeans as a means of developing my GUI based on Swings components. When I started with popping buttons and menubars and other stuff, it was exciting, because it generates code itself and also navigation of components is much easier. However trouble begins after you create a JFrame with about 100 components. At this point, when I want to update component by changing property, e.g. applying a border. This operation takes ages (about a minute or so) to apply the border. You can imagine what will happen if you have to apply similar changes to all components. Does anybody know, what can be done to improve the performance of NetBeans in developing GUI. By the way my system is 700MBRAM, 1200 MHz Athelon and 250GB of hard disk space. So system is well equipped, but there is got to be way of setting in Netbeans, which can be twicked, which I can not figure out. Not even on Netbeans.org website.
Please help if you can. Meantime I will be working myself too and post the reply if I find any solution.

A frame with 100 components. Sounds a bit cluttered. I don't use IDE so can't help you there but is there any way to break it into multiple frames. Or even place some of the components in a panel in a separate class and combine them that way.

Thanks for your reply.
I think that is the drawback of using IDE against facilities of navigation around the frame and source generator. I can do what you said only without using IDE. Difficult to choose. But let me know if you find something somewher. I will do the same on post here if I improve on this.
By the way about 100 copmonents, because of as I said IDE and also this frmae is something similar to some wizard, where it has about 7 tabbed panes with number of components on each one. Also this includes invisible components as well like button groups and so forth.
Thanks anyway
Nilesh
