gridbag length and status bar question

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I am trying to default a length of a gridbag layout smaller/shorter than the pane/panel that it is residing in with limited (no) luck. And secondly, I am needing to know if there is pre-existing code similar to the JMenuBar or such for adding a status bar at the bottom of a panel (include such nifty things as time/date, current file, status, etc.). I figure these are rather easy questions to start with.
Thanks.

Hi,
There is no status bar object. You can use a TextField in the South section of a BorderLayout to get the effect. I don't really understand what you are trying to do with a GridBagLayout but you probably need to use more than one Layout. For example, place the GridBagLayout into a FlowLayout and use the hgap and vgap settings to get spacing around the GridBagLayout.
