Depending on the locale you are in, some stock exchanges run free seminars and courses on investment & finance.

Guys is there any certification in finance to test us on the basics of finance?
I want to take up on the certification as it would give an organised insight into that domain & also it would add value to my career.
I'm 25 years now & becoming a value-investor is in my vision , for which the technical skills of finance like reading financial statements, knowing the finance jargons etc are mandatory.
That's the reason i'm very keen on taking up a certification in finance.
Your views are appreciated & valued.
Regards.

I am in front office side working for investment banking division on forex options..
If you are keen on certifications - CFA is good.. would take 2-3 years to complete.. and may help you to switch careers into finance if you are good in it..Other option is FRM which also has good reputation...

Well my friend I see my career as web developer and database administrator.
I don't think I have to dwell myself completely into finance domain.

Gotta concentrate on Information security too.

So you are playing seesaw game ,finance is like the same ,isn't it?

you got lot of experience than me and you understand finance is big
pain in you know what.

Now I have understood too.I will keep my back away from it.

best regards,
omi

Hi Lok, Front office is not a software Any trading environment can be divided into front office (traders facing, trading terminals), middle office (algorithms, trade routers, OMS etc), backoffice(risk management, data storage) applications.

Most of the applications are highly propritery for each investment bank so you may not get it unless you work in that particular division.

To get a similar idea there is a open source order management system Marketcetera. It can give you a decent idea about the workflow and technology.

chen,

I completely accept your explanation, but i hope there are tools
or software that provide easy interface to the end user fro the various functionalities. And i have heard people say it will be difficult to get used to these tools unless you are good at the basic financial terminologies and that was the reason why i asked about the certifications.

Sree, you are right there will be good opportunities for the guys who are good at front office tools. Hope i answered your answer too.

One of the most important and difficult choices that someone that is beginning a website can make is what to name it. What do you want your domain name.
