Guys is there any certification in finance to test us on the basics of finance?
I want to take up on the certification as it would give an organised insight into that domain & also it would add value to my career.
I'm 25 years now & becoming a value-investor is in my vision , for which the technical skills of finance like reading financial statements, knowing the finance jargons etc are mandatory.
That's the reason i'm very keen on taking up a certification in finance.
Your views are appreciated & valued.
Regards.

First thing you should have done was mentioned what country you're interested in.

Finance isn't like SCJP. Financial certifications are issued by professional organizations, which generally have some degree of regulating and lobbying powers that the IT industry has never managed to build. Which organizations you have to apply to vary with the country and the certification may require not only testing on knowledge but time in grade.

I'm more in the technology end of IT than the applications end, but when I first started, it was briefly in the Life Insurance industry, and I believe that the certification I was encouraged to seek was either FLMI or LOMA. Memory is hazy, but I think one of them was the organization and the other was the certification program.

When I worked in banking, I had to take annual exams to demonstrate knowledge of the "opt-out" privacy laws and money-laundering regulations. I got pieces of paper for passing, but these weren't things I could display to help me get a job. Though if I didn't pass annually, I'd lose the job I had.

I'm in India .
I don't have any commerce background as I did all my education with Computer Science as my choice.( even in engineering)
Now i've finalised my vision & goals for my long-term in becoming a value-investor & also contemplate to start a business in Training corporate people & students in leading technologies.
(By the way i'm in IT industry right now as a software engineer.
I've got 3 sun certifications & on my way to becoming a OCA)
This is my long-term plan.
As part of accomplishing my long-term plan, i thought of doing a basic certification in finance as it would give me a organised way of approaching that finance domain( which is very essential for any business & basic pre-requisite for becoming a value-investor) & also in future it can add value to my profile(atleast i believe so)
Hope you understand this & get back with a good response.
Regards.

Unless things have changed greatly in the last decade or so, certification requires a degree to even qualified for the test. I don't think you can take a test unless you have a degree. IOWs, I don't think it is possible to be a CPA unless you are an accountant first.

There are some courses and tests which give "certifications", such as in tax preparation, but these are more for administrative roles.
