Here's my problem, I'm creating a tree style component, but more of a familly tree style. The tree holds components, and the user can add nodes to them just like a standard JTree. The difference is that this version is not nearly as complexe as JTree and only allows one lvl deep of nodes to be added. ----> Here's the question, how do I build the UIDelegate of the tree to allow nodes(which can be any component) to be rendered inside the paint() method in a layout structured way. I've been going through simpler components like JComboBox, to get an idea of how components inside components get rendered, and layed out in the UIDelegate...but I can't get my head around it. Can someone point be to a good book, or resource on the matter? Thanks

I'll be more specific:
Take the BasicMenuUI class, it doesn't seem to be taking care of the placement of the JMenuItems like I thought it would. What would be the best approach to building a UIDelegate that has to manage the rendering of a component that contrains sub-components.
